Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *yạpïĺč- (to glue, stick to);[1] cognate with Azerbaijani yapışmaq, Bashkir йәбешеү (yəbeşew), Chuvash сыпӑҫ (syp̬ăś), Kazakh жабысу (jabysu), Kyrgyz жабышуу (jabışuu), Turkmen ýapyşmak, Uzbek yopishmoq and Yakut сыһын (sıhın).

  1. (intransitive) to stick, adhere, cling, cleave, to become or remain attached
    Synonym: اولاشمق (ulaşmak)
  2. (intransitive) to interfere, to get involved with a person causing disturbance
