[edit]From Proto-Indo-Iranian *kuntʰás. Perhaps ultimately related to the root of Old Armenian ճաղատ (čałat, “bare, bald”).[1] Cognate with Sanskrit कुण्ठ (kuṇṭhá, “blunt, dull”).
