Borrowed from Arabic كِبْرِيت (kibrīt, sulfur, match), from Aramaic כִּבְּרִיתָא (kiḇrīṯā) / ܟܶܒܪܺܝܬܳܐ (kĕḇrīṯā, sulfur), from Akkadian 𒆠𒀀𒀭𒀀𒇉 (kibrītu, sulfur; firebrand).
