[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *čib (“nail, peg”);[1] cognate with Azerbaijani çiv, Bashkir сөй (söy), Karachay-Balkar чюй (çüy), Kumyk чюй (çüy), Turkmen çüý and Uzbek chuv.
