[edit]Borrowed from Classical Persian چرخ (čarx) from Middle Persian 𐫝𐫍𐫡 (chr /čahr/, “wheel, cycle”), from Proto-Iranian *čaxrám, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *čakrám, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷékʷlos (“wheel, circle”). Doublet of چاک (cāk) and چکر (cakkar, cakra).
