[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀨𑁄𑀟 (phoḍa), from Sanskrit स्फोट (sphoṭa). Cognate with Punjabi ਫੋੜਾ (phoṛā) / پھوڑا (phoṛā), Marathi फोड (phoḍ), Konkani फोड (phoḍ), Sinhalese පොළ (poḷa).[1]
