[edit]Borrowed from Armenian փեթակ (pʻetʻak, “beehive”), itself from Old Armenian փեթակ (pʻetʻak), a word deriving from an unattested Iranian source related to Sanskrit पेटक (peṭaka, “little basket, casket, box”).

- hive, beehive, a man-made structure, usually built from clay, in which bees are kept for their honey
- honeycomb, a substance made by bees from beeswax, which has exagonal cells to hold their larvae
