[edit]Cognate to Central Kurdish باڵندە (ballinde), پاڵوانە (pallwane), پاڵووێنە (palluwêne). The elements parse as برز (burz, “high”) + Middle Persian 𐫇𐫀𐫏- (wāy-, “to fly, to soar”, from Proto-Iranian *wáyHti) + ـه (-a, notorious noun-deriving suffix).
