نبراس
Appearance
Arabic
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Aramaic נֶבְרַשְׁתָּא (neḇraštā). Cognate to Classical Syriac ܢܘܒܪܫܐ (nūḇrāšā), ultimately from Akkadian 𒈾𒀊𒇺 (/nabliš/, “like a flame, like a light or flash”) with a likely Iranian intermediary explaining the conflation of /l/ and /r/.
Pronunciation
