Metathesis of بیلكچه (bilekçe, handcuff), بیلك (bilek, forearm) +‎ ـجه (-ce). Compare Azerbaijani kələfçə / کلپچه and Central Kurdish کەلەپچە (kelepçe), Persian کلپچه (kelepče), Turkic borrowings. For the sense development, see طبانجه (tabanca, pistol).
