[edit]Borrowed from Aramaic כרתא / ܟܪܬܐ (karrāṯā), from Akkadian 𒂵𒆜𒊬 (GA.KASKALSAR, GA.RAŠSAR /karašu/), from Sumerian 𒂵𒆜𒊬 (GA.KASKALSAR, GA.RAŠSAR /garaš/). Also Hebrew כְּרֵשָׁה (kərēšā́).
