[edit]Borrowed from Aramaic, attested in Classical Syriac ܟܪܬܐ (kārtā, “pack, bundle; burden, load one can bear”). Doublet of كَرّ (karr, “six ass loads”) and كُوَارَة (kuwāra, “beehive”).
