  1. "protective jealousy", honor, possessiveness; an emotion which drives one to protect one's family members from the other gender's attention and thereby defend one's pride and honor.
    Synonym: ناموس‌پرستی (nâmus-parasti)
    نصف شب تنها برم بیرون براش مهم نیس. شوهرم اصلا روم غیرت نداره :(
    nesf-e šab tanhâ beram birun barâš mohem nis. šowharam aslan rum ğeyrat na-dâre :(
    Even if I go out in the middle of the night, it doesn't matter for him. My husband has no gheyrat for me at all :(
    غیرت فقط واسه مرد نیست، یک زنم غیرت داره.
    ğeyrat faqat vâse mard nist, yek zan-am ğeyrat dâre.
    Gheyrat isn't just for men, a woman has gheyrat too.
