Inherited from Proto-Turkic *sạč- (to scatter, sprinkle); cognate with Old Turkic 𐰽𐰲 (sač-), Azerbaijani saçmaq, Bashkir сәсеү (səsew), Kazakh шашу (şaşu), Turkmen saçmak, Uyghur چاچماق (chachmaq), Uzbek sochmoq and Yakut ыс (ıs).
