[edit]Borrowed from Aramaic שׁוּנָּרָא / ܫܘܢܪܐ (šunnāra), ܣܢܘܪܐ (sannūrā), from Akkadian 𒊓𒀀 (šurānum), whence also Hebrew שֻׁנָּר (šunnār), ultimately non-Semitic.
