[edit]Inherited from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (lyšk' /rēšag/), borrowed from Avestan 𐬭𐬀𐬉𐬱𐬀 (raēša), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *wréh₂ds (“root”).
Cognate with Baluchi ریشَگ (rīšag, “root”)
