Inherited from Old Gujarati राषिवउं (rāṣivaüṃ /rākhivaüṃ/), from Apabhramsa 𑖨𑖎𑖿𑖏𑖂 (rakkhaï), from Prakrit 𑀭𑀓𑁆𑀔𑀇 (rakkhaï), from Sanskrit रक्ष॑ति (rákṣati).[1]
