Etymology
[edit]Perhaps derived from the active participle of رَهِبَ (rahiba, “to dread”), from the root ر ه ب (r-h-b), with the intermediate meanings "dreader", "God-fearer", "God-worshiper", "venerator"; compare رَهَب (rahab, “veneration, respect”) and رَهْبَة (rahba, “terror; dread; awe”).
