Etymology

Borrowed from Arabic الدُّنْيَا وَمَا فِيهَا (ad-dunyā wamā fīhā, literally “the world and what's in it.”).

     بنازم دست ساقی را که تا می ریخت در جامم

     man az jâ mi-fekandam az nazar donyâ va mâfihâ

     I caress the hand of the cupbearer, for as long as he poured wine in my goblet,
