Inherited from Prakrit 𑀤𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀺𑀬𑀸 (dattiyā) (with Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-)), from Sanskrit दात्र (dā́tra).
