[edit]From Armenian խշուր (xšur, “rinds and shells of eaten fruits and nuts”), which is related to Armenian խոշոր (xošor, “plump, rough, coarse”), also found as vernacular Turkish hışır, hoşor, hoşur (“plump, rough, coarse”).
