[edit]Inherited from Proto-Turkic *tüt(e)- (“to smoke”); cognate with Azerbaijani tütmək, Bashkir төтәү (tötəw), Chuvash тӗтӗр (tĕt̬ĕr), Kazakh түтеу (tüteu), Kyrgyz түтөө (tütöö) and Turkmen tütemek.
