[edit]Inherited from Old Punjabi بھانڈا (bhānḍā), itself from Prakrit 𑀪𑀁𑀟 (bhaṃḍa), ultimately from Sanskrit भाण्ड (bhāṇḍa). Cognate with Saraiki بھانڈَہ (bhānḍah), Hindi भंडा (bhaṇḍā) / भाँड़ (bhā̃ṛ) and Marathi भांडे (bhāṇḍe).
