Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀯𑀡𑀺𑀚𑁆𑀚𑀸𑀭 (vaṇijjāra, trader), from Sanskrit वणिज्या (vaṇijyā́, trade) + कार (kāra, doer).
