Inherited from Proto-Turkic *bïldur- (quail);[1] cognate with Azerbaijani bildirçin, Chuvash пӑлтӑрчан (pălt̬ărč̬an), Karakhanid بُدُرْسٖينْ (budursı:n), Kazakh бұлдырық (būldyryq) and Kipchak [script needed] (buyurçın).
