Karakhanid
[edit]Etymology 1
[edit]Likely inherited from Common Turkic *anlayu through crasis and metathesis.[1] The alternative theory, being that it's a crasis of *an-ile,[2] is impossible due to historical phonetics, see بِلا (bilē), بِرْلا (birlē, “with”).
Adverb
[edit]اَيْلا (eylē)
- (Oghuz) like that
- [1072–4, مَحْمُود الكَاشْغَرِيّ [maḥmūd al-kāšḡariyy], دِيوَانِ لُغَاتِ ٱلتُرْك [dīwāni luḡāti t-turk], volume 1 (in Arabic), عامره, published 1917, page 103:
- اَيْلا — بِالْغُزِّيَّةِ. وَمَعْناهُ «كَذٰلِكَ». يُقالُ «اَيْلا قِلْغِلْ» اِيْ اِفْعَلْ كَذا.
- ʔaylā — bi-l-ḡuzziyyati. wa-maʕnāhu “ka-ḏālika”. yuqālu “ʔaylā qilḡil” ʔī ʔifʕal kaḏā.
