From Hebrew פנטזיה, itself from European languages such as German Fantasia, Polish fantazja and Russian фантазия (fantazija), all of which from Latin phantasia through Italian fantasia, ultimately from Ancient Greek φᾰντᾰσῐ́ᾱ (phăntăsĭ́ā, appearance; impression).
