Etymology

From ־שט (-sht) suffixed onto Hebrew כְּלוֹמַר (k'lomár, “that is to say”), from כְּ־ (k'-, “as”) + לוֹמַר (lomár), infinitive of אָמַר ('amár, “to say”).
