[edit]- սենէկ (senēk) — post-Classical
Etymology
[edit]Together with Old Georgian სენაკი (senaḳi), borrowed from Middle Iranian *sēniyak, from Old Iranian *sayanīyaka- (literally “that which is to be slept in, sleeping-room”), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ḱey- (“to lie down”). Compare Sanskrit शयनीयक (śayanīyaka, “bed, couch”), शयनीय (śayanīya, “to be slept or lain on”), शयन (śayana, “repose; bed”) and Latin cūnae (“cradle, crib; nest”).
