Etymology

According to Martirosyan, from յ- (y-) +‎ Proto-Armenian *oləw, from earlier *ɸoləw, from Proto-Indo-European *polh₁u-s. Cognate with Ancient Greek πολύς (polús), Sanskrit पुरु (purú). See also ալաւունք (alawunkʻ)
