[edit]A Middle Iranian borrowing: compare Parthian 𐫉𐫏𐫀𐫗 (zyʾn /zyān/, “loss, harm, damage, destruction”), Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (zydʾn' /zyān/, “loss, harm, damage”), Persian زیان (ziyân, “damage”), and see the latter for more.[1][2]
