[edit]The origin is uncertain. Similar words for globular objects are found in many languages: compare Latin pustula, bulla, Ancient Greek βομβυλίς (bombulís, “water bubbles”), Lithuanian pampti (“to swell”), bumbalas (“knob, bladder”). Related to փոշտ (pʻošt) and perhaps առաւուշտ (aṙawušt).
