[edit]Wholly borrowed from Iranian (compare Parthian 𐭀𐭅𐭉𐭓𐭍 (ʾwyrn, “ruin, destruction”), Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (ʾwylʾn' /awērān/), Persian ویران (virân, “desolate, ruined”)) or formed in Armenian as աւերեմ (awerem) + -անք (-ankʻ).
