[edit]An Iranian borrowing. Compare Manichaean Parthian ʾxšd (*axšad, *axšaẟ, “pity, mercy”), Manichaean Middle Persian ʾxšʾd (*axšād, “troubled, distressed; distress”). Related to ապաշխարեմ (apašxarem).
