From Proto-Turkic *yubka (thin (of flat objects)).

Cognate with Ottoman Turkish یوفقه (yufḳa), Turkish yufka, Azerbaijani yuxa, Tatar юка (yuka), Kazakh жұқа (jūqa), Kyrgyz жука (juka), Southern Altai јука (ǰuka), Bashkir йоҡа (yoqa), Uzbek yupqa, Uyghur يۇپقا (yupqa), Khakas чуға (çuğa, thin).
