Appearance
Mongolian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Mongolic *kudaldu-, possibly somehow related through borrowing of inheritance with Proto-Tungusic *xuda- and Proto-Turkic *ȫte- (“to pay”).
Compare Dongxiang ghudandu, Manchu ᡠᡩᠠᠮᠪᡳ (udambi, “to buy”), Manchu ᡥᡡᡩᠠ (hūda, “business”), Nanai хода (hoda, “price”) Turkish ödemek (“to pay”).
The element *-ldu-, is the ancestor of the cooperative in -лдах (-ldax).
