Etymology
[edit]Interpretation of Biblical Hebrew עִמָּנוּאֵל ('imanu'éll) (Isaiah 7:14, 8:10) and Koine Greek μεθ ἡμῶν ὁ Θεός (meth hēmôn ho Theós) (Matthew 1:23). Compare German Gott mit uns and Ukrainian з нами Бог (z namy Boh).

- Sung as the refrain of the hymn for the first part of the Great Compline in Orthodox Christian tradition.
- The archaic spelling, съ на́ми Богъ, is also used nowadays as a motto by Russian nationalists and far-right extremists.
