[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic сельскъіи (selĭskŷii), from Proto-Slavic *sèlьskъ. By surface analysis, сяло́ (sjaló) + -скі (-ski). Cognate with Russian се́льский (sélʹskij) and Ukrainian сільськи́й (silʹsʹkýj).
