[edit]From Ukrainian рух (rux, “movement”) from Old East Slavic рꙋшити (rušiti) from Proto-Slavic *ruxъ from Proto-Indo-European *reu̯, or *rou̯, or *rū. Cognate with Lithuanian ruošа̀ (“preparation”), Lithuanian ruõšti (“to prepare, to equip”), Latvian rа̄oss (“active, eager”), Latin ruo (“I hurry, I hasten, I collapse”).[1]
