Etymology

A negated form of the verb *ќе that is now defective and only used as an invariable future auxiliary. Cognate with Bulgarian ща and Serbo-Croatian hteti, ultimately from Proto-Slavic *xъtěti. Perceived as a contraction of не + сака.
