[edit]Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish لغم (lağım), from Arabic لَغْم (laḡm), ultimately derived from Ancient Greek λᾰ́κκος (lákkos, “cavity”) [1] or Ancient Greek λαχαίνω (lakhaínō, “to dig, to excavate”), from Ancient Greek λαχών (lakhṓn, “to obtain, to draw, to receive”). Compare obsolete or dialectal Bulgarian лагъм (lagǎm, “underground tunnel”).
