[edit]Inherited from Old Slovak krajní, krajný, from Proto-Slavic *krajьnъ. Cognates include Czech krajní, Polish krajny, Russian кра́йний (krájnij), Serbo-Croatian крајњи / krajnji and Ukrainian кра́йній (krájnij). By surface analysis, край (kraj) + -нї (-nji).
