Cognate with Kazakh жүгіру (jügıru), Kyrgyz жүгүрүү (jügürüü), Crimean Tatar cuvurmaq, Uyghur يۈگۈرمەك (yügürmek), Uzbek yugurmoq, Azerbaijani yüyürmək, Tuvan чүгүрер (çügürer), Yakut сүүр (süür, “to run”), etc.
