[edit]From Proto-Mongolic *jasa-, compare Mongghul sza (“make, repair”).
Turkic forms of the word (see Turkish yasamak) are considered Mongolisms, relation with Manchu ᡩᠠᠰᠠᠮᠪᡳ (dasambi, “to govern”), if any, is unclear.
