[edit]Inherited from Old Slovak zabýť, from Proto-Slavic *zabyti. By surface analysis, за- (za-) + буц (buc). Cognates include Carpathian Rusyn забы́ти (zabŷ́ty), Slovak zabýť, and Ukrainian забу́ти (zabúty).
