[edit]Inherited from Proto-Slavic *žukъ. Per Vasmer (and others) likely related to жужжа́ть (žužžátʹ), жу́желица (žúželica). Per Chernykh, however, likely related to Proto-Slavic *govędo (denied by Anikin).
