[edit]Of Oghur origin, from Proto-Turkic *ōtag. Cognate with Turkish oda (“room”), whence dialectal Bulgarian одая (odaja, “storage room”).
Probably cognate with Old Church Slavonic ватахъ (vataxŭ, “chief, commander”).
