Etymology

Inherited from Old Slovak budúci, from Proto-Slavic *bǫdǫťь. Doublet of будущи (budušči). Cognates include Czech budoucí, Old Polish będący, Russian бу́дущий (búduščij), Serbo-Croatian будућиbudući, Slovak budúci and Ukrainian бу́дучий (búdučyj).
