[edit]See the etymology of the corresponding lemma form. Possibly a semantic loan from Russian отбивна́я (otbivnája). By surface analysis, ellipsis of адбіўна́я катле́та (adbiŭnája katljéta, “beaten cutlet”). Semantically, compare also Romanian bătută, Ukrainian відбивна́ (vidbyvná).
