Дїтко
Appearance
Pannonian Rusyn
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Old Slovak dietko, dítko (“child”). The expected form is however *Дзитко (*Dzitko), as seen with дзивка (dzivka) and дзеци (dzeci); the derivation of [ɟ] suggests influence from Ukrainian (perhaps specifically ді́тки (dítky)), as occurred in дїло (djilo). Theoretically, a doublet of дзецко (dzecko).
